Characteristics-dependent Planning: New functions
Scope of Functions
In master data maintenance the following functions for the production process model are controlled by rules(= specified characteristic value assignments and ranges of values) and macros:
- Activation of activities / operations
- Characteristics-dependent overriding (= replacement, addition, multiplication) of various parameter values in PPM. Supported parameter values include
- the duration of an activity
- the sequencing of operations
- capacity requirements
- component requirements
- scrap (only for activities)
- the setting of setup groups and keys in PPM
Alongside the creation of the block basis definition and the classification of resources, Block Planning includes the following functions:
- Definition of reference cycles
- Block Planning for resources using reference cycles
- Graphically interactive block adjustment and scheduling of affected operations in the detailed scheduling planning board
Characteristics-dependent Planning also enhances the functions in the global ATP check. When entering a sales order for a configurable product or a material variant, the required configuration (= characteristic value assignments) is transferred to the ATP check in APO. If a check against stock is run there, finished products with the required characteristics are found. If none are available, appropriate production orders (also multi-level) are generated und planned. Blocks that may be defined for these resources are hereby taken into account. Note the following restrictions:
- Parallel checks by different users are currently not possible.
- If you currently try to check several items for the same material in the sales order, the results are wrong.
Effects on Data Transfer
Included in the characteristics-dependent transaction data, which is transferred from R/3 to APO, are characteristic value assignments for:
- Production order items
- Sales order items
Class definitions and characteristics are included in the characteristics-dependent master data, which is transferred from R/3 to APO. The transfer of value ranges, default values and delta transfers are currently not supported. There is no link to engineering change management.
Make sure in the integration model (Core Interface) on the R/3 side that you have
- selected the checkbox for the transfer of classes and characteristics
- entered the required business organizational view in the selection range for classes and characteristics
Effects on Customizing
In order to transfer class and characteristic definitions from R/3 to APO, you define the business application view for the affected class(es) in Customizing on the R/3 side under
- for release 3.1 under Cross-application components -> Classification system -> Classes -> Object types -> Class types -> Settings for class definitions ->Maintain business application views
- from Release 4.0 under Cross-application components -> Classification system -> Classes -> Maintainobject types and class types
In order to execute a characteristics-based product availability check in the global ATP, you define the required check mode in APO Customizing for the global availability check under General Settings -> Maintain check mode.
