PP/DS: Propagation Range
Scope of Functions
With the propagation range you can limit for which resources or products you can change the schedule in interactive planning or which resources and products the changes in schedule will affect.
Propagation range in the detailed scheduling planning board
With the propagation range, you could previously set for which resources and products you could change the schedule. From Release 2.0A in the detailed scheduling planning board only the resources specified in the propagaion area will be considered in scheduling.
Propagation area in interactive planning
For interactive planning outside the detailed scheduling planning board, for example, for the order processing, the propagation range was not relevant previously, in other words you could plan all products. From Release 2.0A you also use a propagation range in interactive planning and in the planning run, to limit which products you can plan.
- Interactive planning
- You can only use interactive planning for the products in the propagation range. You can, for example, only create an order for a product in the propagation range, or carry out the planning function Plan product.
- If you create an order for a product in the propagation range, which contains components that are not contained in the propagation range, the system still creates orders for these components (as long as these components are planned automatically).
- It is recommended to define a propagation range, so that it contains all components of a product.
- Planning run
- Here, the system considers the propagation range, without restrictions. You can use the propagation range to carry out single-level planning; to do so you define a propagation range, which only contains primary products.
You can make the user-specific settings for the propagation range under Settings.
Propagation range and authorizations.
Using Authorizations, you define whether a user may display or change planning versions, the schedule for location resources or the stock/requirements situation for location products. The system permits changes only to the resources and products of the propagation range, for which the user has authorization to change.
