Repetitive Manufacturing: Sequencing

Description

In sequencing, you are defining the sequence in which the orders are to be produced in flow and in repetitive manufacturing.

For customer orientated flow and repetitive manufacturing, for example, in the automotive and computer industries, sequencing is a significant part of production planning for the configured finished products.

To support the planner plan and dispatch the usually high order volume, a new sequencing tool has been developed. It provides support in planning, monitoring and, if necessary, changing the order sequence. Components are provided and their specific delivery times calculated depending on the sequencing results of the finished product. Sequencing is suitable for takt-based production with make-to-order or, if necessary, with configurable products (variants). The lot size of the order must be equal to 1. Another prerequisite for the use of sequencing is that exactly one quantity unit is produced per takt.

You can calculate the sequences of one or several lines using an external optimazation program or they can be calculated by the system on a FIFO basis depending on the sales order number. To make sequencing as clear as possible and to support easy-to-use maintenance functions, it is displayed in graphic form.

In this graphic display, special attention is payed to the high order volume. For this purpose, the well-known Gantt display has been enhanced. On the x-axis, the gantt diagram displays time and on the y-axis the orders. The orders are displayed in the diagram. The time axis is folded for every line so that several rows are available for displaying the orders. This means that a large number of orders can be displayed.

You can deallocate and dispatche the orders and you can displace orders by takt within a planning period (such as a day) on a line. You can also assign an order to another planning period or another production line.
