Compound Characteristics in Release 4.02

Description

As from Release 4.02, Risk Management supports the use of compound characteristics that is, characteristics with values that only make sense in association with the values of one or more other characteristics.

Both characteristic dependencies specified by the user (in the case of user-defined characteristics) and characteristic dependencies resulting from existing data structures (in the case of characteristics generated from table fields or data elements) are permitted.

In RM areas, views, and derivation rules, characteristics that belong to a compound must always be included together. In portfolio hierarchies, each characteristic in the compound can be used separately.

The delivered characteristics portfolio and profit center are really in a compound with the company code/controlling area but have so far been treated as if they were independent characteristics. As from 4.02, these compounds will be taken into account. As a consequence, finance objects that were correct before may now contain errors if the characteristic values were not assigned in line with the customizing. Such finance objects should be corrected by adjusting the assigned characteristic values so that they correspond to the compound defined in customizing.
