Individual Value Adjustment

Description

As of release 4.03, individual value adjustment is provided for. You can store either a percentage rate amount or a fixed amount for a value adjustment (write-off) for an account. In this list, during a valuation run, all accounts are output for which there is to be a value adjustment. In online mode, based on the proposed values, you must specify the actual value adjustments respectively. During saving, the actual value adjustments are saved. A posting run creates the FI postings that can then be transferred to FI.

Depending on the type of value adjustment (addition, reversal), a posting is made to a corresponding GL account. In BCA, only an amount is stored as current value adjustment.

When a current account with value adjustment is closed, by means of a manual posting in BCA with special transaction types (set up by you), you can bring the account balance to zero.

Along with account closure, EURO changeover has also been taken into account. In the case of changeover to EURO, the individual value adjustment is also converted and there must be a subsequent adjustment posting on the general ledger.

Effects on Customizing

For the individual value adjustment itself, the following new posting categories have been added to the Implementation Guide:

87 - IVA addition

88 - IVA reversal current year

89 - IVA reversal previous years

It is advisable to assign a separate generel ledger transaction to each of these posting categories to ensure meaningful posting to different general ledger accounts.

The following new posting categories are supplied for the posting of non-retrievable receivables:

85 - loss on receivables

86 - loss on value adjusted receivables

with the transaction types:

8070 - loss on receivables

8080 - loss on value adjusted receivables

To these you assign two new general ledger transaction types as follows:

8070 is assigned 8070 loss on receivables

8080 is assigned 8080 loss on value adjusted receivables.

Changes in procedure

Choose Account management -> Individual value adjustment -> Create / Display / Change.

You can trigger a proposal run on a key date by choosing Periodic tasks -> General ledger -> Individual value adjustment. In this run, a list of all accounts that are to be value adjusted is output, along with the amounts.

Further notes

It is advisable not to be able to call up transaction types 8070 and 8080 in online mode.
