SAP Menu and Role-Specific User Menus

Scope of Functions

SAP Banking release 4.61 is based on the SAP Basis system release 4.6B, enabling a flexible design of the user menu:

The SAP system can be adapted to suit the working habits of the user: When started , it proposes only those functions to the user that are typical for this person's day to day tasks. It is no longer necessary to navigate through functions that are not needed. Until now, you could call up user menus in the Session Manager or in the R/3 dynamic menu. As of release 4.6A, the system outputs a user menu in the form of a tree to every user who logs on to the SAP system to whom an activity group is assigned.

When you select a function, it is started in the same session as the one in which you are currently. The executed function replaces the menu. The menu appears again automatically when you exit a transaction or start a new session.

As of release 4.61, roles are supplied for SAP Banking that you can use as copy templates:

  • SAP_ISB_ACCOUNTS_ADMIN_AG: SAP Banking BCA: Administrator in Account Management
  • SAP_ISB_ACCOUNTS_ASSISTANT_AG: SAP Banking BCA: Assistant in Account Management
  • SAP_ISB_ACCOUNTS_STAFF_AG: SAP Banking BCA: Processing Staff in Account Management
  • SAP_ISB_CRE_RISK_CONTROLLER_AG: SAP Banking Credit Risk Limitation: Credit Risk Controller
  • SAP_ISB_MAR_RISK_CONTROLLER_AG: SAP Banking Risk Analysis: Market Risk Controller
  • SAP_ISB_PA_CONTROLLER_AG: SAP Banking Profitability Analysis: Profitability Controller
  • SAP_ISB_STRATEGIC_PLANNER_AG: SAP Banking Asset Liability Management: Strategic Balance Sheet Planner

You will need to adapt these roles to suit specific conditions such as organization levels and authorization groups, the final result being that the user only sees the menu needed for his/her day to day tasks. Users can further adapt this menu to suit their own personal requirements by creating frequently needed functions as favorites or reassigning functions in the menu tree.

Effects on System Administration

You assign the users to the roles by means of activity groups.

When maintaining the activity groups (transaction PFCG), the administrator can combine the menu structure for an activity group consisting of transactions, reports and Internet/intranet links with a user menu. The structure and terminology of the functions contained can be chosen freely.
