Processing Characteristics (Extended)

Use

As of SAP R/3 Enterprise Financial Services 2.00 (EA-FINSERV 200)the processing characteristics can no longer be activated on a client basis but are activated generally. The system determines the processing characteristics for all loan contracts and updates then automatically using a standard transaction every time that a change is made to a loan.

After upgrading to the new Release you must note the following points:

  • The processing characteristics must be set to their initial value before going live. You also need to run a planned record update for the whole position. You also need to initialize the processing characteristics if you had already activated them in your previous release.
  • After the planned record update, use the Processing Characteristics report to check for any loans that are still without processing characteristics. If this is the case, you can determine the missing processing characteristics directly using the report.
  • Note that in the Processing Characteristics report, the general authorization object S_TABU_DIS has been replaced by the new authorization object FD_CHARAC. If you used the processing characteristics in your previous Release, you need to use transaction PFCG to adjust the relevant profile.
  • Note that the processing characteristics are only updated by the SAP standard transaction. If you are using in-house development or programs that are not from SAP, you need to check whether these programs can have an effect on the characteristics. If this is the case, you need to extend the programs concerned so that they determine the processing characteristics. Alternatively, after executing the program you can use the Processing Characteristics report to check the processing characteristics and to update any differences.

Effects on Existing Data

If you had activated the processing characteristics in your previous release, check that no legacy data is transferred. During initialization the processing characteristics are recalculated and stored in the database table VDARL (Loan). The table used in the old Release, VDLOANCHARAC (Processing Characteristics per Loan) is no longer used. Should you no longer need the data in the table, you can delete the contents of the table manually.

Effects on Data Transfer

When loans are transferred or changed by way of the external data transfer, you need to initialize or update the processing characteristics for the new or changed loans. You can initialize the processing characteristics by using the planned record update, as described above. To update the characteristics you need to execute the Processing Characteristicsreport for the loans changed.

Effects on System Administration

Effects on Customizing

In the IMG activity Define General Installation Parameters you can activate the additional history of the processing characteristics. If you activate this function, the system logs each change of the processing characteristics of a loan. You can display the history in the display of processing characteristics for a contract.
