Diagnosis

The system determined that RFC connection is to be used for administrative tasks in the BW client.

System Response

Procedure

Customize an RFC connection pointing to the BW client of your CRM system. You define this RFC connection in the Configuration of RFC Connections (transaction SM59) and enter it using Display View "Middleware Parameter"(transaction SM30, View SMOFPARSFA)as follows:

  • Key                BIRFC
  • Parameter Name     LOCAL_BI_REPORTING_RFC
  • Param. Name 2      BIREP
  • Param. Value

This RFC connection is used for administrative tasks like BI Content activation or generation of custom extension fields. It allows logging to the BW client without login screen. Provide a sufficiently authorized user, such as ALEREMOTE with profiles S_BI-WHM_RFC and S_BI-WX_RFC assigned.

Procedure for System Administration

We recommend not to customize RFC connection with a dialog user. However, in order to perform customizing tasks with this configuration wizard, you need to login to the BW client with a dialog user. Therefore, you can personalize the above mentioned customizing in view SMOFPARSFA, which lets the user currently running the configuration wizard use a different RFC connection for login to the BW client. For this, create an additional entry as follows:

  • Key                BIRFC
  • Parameter Name     LOCAL_BI_REPORTING_RFC
  • Param. Name 2      CONFIG
  • Param. Name 3
  • User Name
  • Param. Value

Based on this setting the user (or all users if this parameter is not provided) calls the BW client through a special RFC connection (providing extended authorization and SAP GUI access) during system configuration. All other users refer to the standard connection.
