In this IMG section you define conditions under which requirements that fulfill the same criteria can be grouped during an allocation run. You can handle requirements for each group separately during the allocation. For example, you can apply a special release procedure to a group.

Forming allocation groups is the prerequisite for using allocation logics other than FIFO (first in, first out).

You define allocation groups using grouping rules. You assign fields to each of these rules, according to which the requirements should be grouped. For example, you can specify that all requirements will be grouped by sold-to party in an allocation run. You can then carry out the allocation for each allocation group based on the equal distribution principle, for instance (see Allocation Logic).

  1. Define a grouping rule by assigning an alphanumeric key with a maximum of four characters as well as a descriptive text.
  2. Assign fields to the rule, indicating how the requirements are to be grouped.
  3. If necessary, assign constants to the grouping fields. If individual release rules are to be used for this allocation group, enter an external group number as well (numeric, maximum 5 digits) in the corresponding field.
Alternatively, you can use a self-defined function module, to fill the group number.
  1. If you want to carry out a special release procedure for the requirements of this allocation group, first enter the external group number that you assigned to the grouping rule in the previous step. Then enter the relevant grouping rule.
  • You can define settings for individual release levels as well as for the final action without entering a separately defined release rule. These entries are then valid only for the underlying allocation group.

  • You can select an already existing release rule. In this case, the system uses default values, which you change as necessary. If you set the Reference indicator, the system will always use the default values for the release rule. Without the indicator, the visible (changeable) settings will always be valid during the allocation run.

  1. Store the grouping rule in the allocation type.

You want to group all the requirements of a sold-to party with identical purchase order numbers in an allocation group so that you can use an individual release rule. To do this, define the allocation group and assign it its own release rule (which is different from the rule in the allocation type).
