In this Customizing step, you define the sort order in which stock is allocated. You specify the fields on which the sort logic is to be based. For example, you might want stock in one storage location to be given a higher priority for allocation than another location.

  1. Define your stock sort rule in the Rulesnode and give it asuitable description
  2. Select the rule and choose Fields.
  3. Define the fields and determine the sequence in which you want the stock to be allocated.
  4. Select a field for which you want to enter individual priorities for certain values of that field and choose Field Values.
  5. Enter the individual priorities for the field value.

In addition, you can also select a sort rule and choose Function Module. You can enter a specific function module to be called to perform an alternative, more complex sorting.

Assume that you entered Stock Type (j_3abskz) as a stock sort field, but you want to assign individual priorities to each stock type as follows.

B 3 Purchase orders

C 1 Batch stock

L 2 Shipping notifications

This kind of sorting would not be possible with a normal ascending or descending sort method. However, it is made possible by giving individual priorities to each stock type.
