Here you specify

  • whether you want to allow the internal number assignment during the grid creation and in which object the system should find the number range for the internal assignment
  • whether you want to use the function of the grid change history and how the number assignment should be carried out.

Both functionalities are independent of one another.

Number range for the internal number assignment during the creation of grids

Every grid is uniquely identified in the system by its number. You can either define this number yourself when creating a grid or you can make settings in the system so that it automatically assigns your grid if you do not make your own entry.

In Customizing you determine via which number range object and from which number range interval the system should retrieve the numbers during the internal number assignment.

In the Standard AFS System the internal number assignment for the numbering of material grids is activated by default. For the relevant number range object (J_3APGHD) a number range interval (01) is defined, which the system accesses during the internal number assignment. The lower limit of this interval and thus the first number the system can assign is the figure 100000000000000000; the upper limit is 199999999999999999.

Grid change history

The system can log changes you make to grids and display them in reports. Here you make the setting if you want to use this functionality in your system and whether you want to use it for all grids or only for master, sales, or purchasing grids. With an activated change history in the application, you can specifically enter per grid whether the system should record the changes or not.

In the Standard AFS System the grid change history is activated for master and application grids by default. For the numerical entry of the individual changes, a separate number range object is defined for the grid change history (J_3APGRDDC). The system accesses the number range interval (01) via the number range object during the numbering of the changes. The lower limit of the number range interval is 1 and the upper limit is 1999999999.

If the grid change history should only be active for master grids, but not for the application grids, you must only flag the master grid and demark all others.

You can subsequently change the settings you make here.

Note

As long as you have not used the internal number assignment in the application, you can, to a limited extent, make adjustments to number range objects and intervals:

  • You can enter another number segment for the number range interval for the number assignment when creating grids and the number assignment within the grid change history.
  • You can adjust the contents of the number range objects that have been set by default according to your requirements.

Warning

You cannot change the technical names of the number range objects because that would lead to errors in the program. Therefore, you cannot determine your own objects for each grid type.
