The distribution of requirements to plants, categories, grid values and/or periods can be based on historical sales figures. For this you create mapping profiles. You can use different mapping profiles to specify which source data should be used for the distribution to the target data.

You can define the following profiles as mapping profiles:
1. Material profile
2. Plant profile
3. Category profile
4. Grid profile
5. Period profile

1. Example of a material profile

You plan that the new style of your in-house produced T-shirt refers 100% to the sales figures of a previously produced polo shirt.

2. Example of a plant profile

During a previous period your plant 001 produced all colors and sizes of the polo shirt 100%. For the next season you plan to produce the T-shirt in plant 001 (60%) and plant 002 (40%).

3. Example of a category profile

You produced the T-shirt only for American customers in quality one. The polo shirt was sold in quality two and three in Italy and Germany.

The planned sale of the T-shirt should refer 20% to the sales figures of the polo shirt in quality two that was sold in Italy and it should refer 120% to the sales history of the polo shirt in quality three that was sold in Germany.

4. Example of a grid profile

You plan to produce the following colors and sizes of the new T-shirt and to refer to the corresponding sales figures of the polo shirt:

Target material Source Percent

black/large black/large 125%
black/medium blue/medium 85%
black/medium blue/small 20%

5. Example of a period profile

You can refer the planned sale of the T-shirt to certain historical periods of the polo shirt (compare define validity periods for distribution profiles.

In define versions for distribution profiles you describe a version.

Create appropriate mapping profiles by using your version number and save the profiles as variant. The Standard variant is defined under the name SAP&Variant and is automatically defaulted by the system.

To create a combination of appropriate mapping profiles only once, you have to carry out the following settings:

  • Distribution version
  • Selection report
  • Variant

Refer your planned sales data to appropriate and meaningful historical sales figures.

Enter the version. Assign the variant per mapping profile to the selection report.

You can use different versions during a distribution run.

To use additional selection parameters in the selection report or another historical file, you can copy and change the Standard selection report.
