Here you can make additional settings for the control of the availability check (ATP). You can make AFS-specific settings for each combination of check group and checking rule within the ATP.

In the detail screen you can make AFS-specific settings for the following options of each check group/checking rule combination:

  • ATP/MRP checking method
  • Search horizon
  • SKU horizon method 2

Using the ATP/MRP checking method you control according to which strategy the availability check should proceed when assigning incoming stock to requirements. If you make the setting "C", the ATP first searches for the appropriate category when covering a requirement. If you make the setting " ", it tries to confirm the requirement for the requested delivery date, even if it is not possible to cover the requirement for that date in the desired category.

The ATP search horizon defines the time frame in which the availability is carried out. You can specify the search horizon in days. If the replenishment lead time (RLT) is active for your material, the ATP check is either carried out until the end of the RLT or the end of the search horizon.

The SKU horizon method 2 allows you to run the availability check starting at a certain point at material level (instead of SKU level). This can be beneficial because the process of the order creation/change has better performance. Secondly, you can also use the SKU horizon 2 in the ATP to adjust your stock planning based on an actual requirements situation.

Example

You have placed a purchase order with your vendor for the coming season for a total quantity of 1,000 pieces of material A. The planned delivery date of the purchase order is the middle of June 2001, and you created the document at the beginning of March 2001. You were not specific as to which SKUs for this material should actually be delivered. You have agreed with your vendor that you will provide this information by the end of April.

With the number of days (45 for instance) that you fix in the ATP checking rule as the SKU horizon 2, you control that all of the sales order documents will be confirmed by the ATP at material level with a requirements date greater than the current date + 45 working days. These requirements will be assigned to the above mentioned purchase order, for example. In this manner you can adjust the purchase order such, that exactly those SKUs will be produced and delivered that your customers have requested from you.

Activities

Note

Please note that even in the case of a requirements coverage at material level, possibly already existing batch stock will never be considered at material level.

Even if the requirements date is not within the SKU horizon, the system first checks whether batch stock is available in the appropriate SKU. If so, it will be used by the ATP for the requirements coverage.
