SAP E-Book

A major customer has ordered large material quantities that you are to deliver to their individual stores. The customer does not insist on a complete delivery, but only wants the stores to be supplied as quickly as possible.

If there is not enough stock available, you use distribution rules to control whether

  • you distribute the existing stock equally to all stores (principle of equal distribution)
  • you supply only some stores, but with the quantity that was originally ordered by the sold-to party for each store (FIFO principle)

You can freely define your own distribution rules according to the requirements of your company or your MSO-customers.

In the standard AFS system you have a default distribution rule for both distribution principles, E01 for the equal distribution and F01 for the FIFO-principle.

Each of the distribution rules is based on its own form routine: routine 1 for the equal distribution principle and routine 2 for the FIFO-principle.

In both rules the system checks the stores for their delivery priority, which you have assigned to them in the customer master.

If you choose the equal distribution for a document, the system first assigns the equal quantity of material to all stores and then assigns the remaining quantity to the stores that have the highest delivery priority. That means that only certain stores get a maximum of one unit of measure more than the other stores.

If you choose a distribution according to the FIFO-principle, the system assigns the exact quantity that the sold-to party originally ordered per store to the stores with the highest delivery priority. That means that stores with low delivery priority might not get a delivery.

The basis for the distribution principle is a separate form routine. You can define your own routines and use numbers starting at 601and higher to number them.

You enter a sort sequence per distribution rule which the system should use for the processing of the individual stores. You create sort sequences by assigning fields of one or several structures to the sequence. The system should check the fields in a certain sequence for each store.

You can enter a maximum of 25 fields per sort sequence.

In the system you can define which distribution rule should be used per sort sequence:

  • in AFS additional data for sales in the customer master

When creating or changing an MSO II document, you can enter another rule for the distribution at any time.

You can only use distribution rules within a multi-store order II.

In the application the quantity distribution is carried out per item of your MSO II document. The system can only distribute the material quantities to the stores that have been confirmed by the ATP check for each item. The ATP check begins with the first item of the document and proceeds until the last item.

Please take note of this if you have the same material in the document in the form of several items. For example, you have assigned the material to different mixes. If there is not enough stock, the stores that are to receive the first item have an advantage. This is because the ATP might have confirmed the full quantity, depending on the remaining stock. The stores to which you assigned the remaining items get less or no material at all, accordingly.
