In this Customizing activity, you define the settings for interface determination for customer-specific interfaces in the SAP Application Interface Framework.

Interface determination enables you to configure which interface in the SAP Application Interface Framework should be used for processing a data message. You do this on the basis of customer-specific types that are handling the inbound data message along with fields whose values are used to determine the correct interface.

You have created a customer-specific interface determination class. This class has to implement interface /AIF/IF_INF_DET_ENGINE. Alternatively, the class can inherit from /AIF/CL_INF_DET_ENGINE_BASE. Furthermore, you have maintained your customer-specific interface determination class in Customizing for the SAP Application Interface Framework under Additional Interface Properties -> Define Custom Engines.

Interface determination is done implicitly within the SAP Application Interface Framework based on the following rule:

The user has to enter the customer-specific interface determination type. The interface determination is based on the custom type and two custom-specific names.

  1. In order to create a new entry for interface determination, select Edit -> New Entries.
To edit an existing entry, double-click on it.
  1. Select up to five fields whose value is to be used to determine the interface.
  2. Select Assign Interface in the menu on the left-hand side.
  3. Choose Edit -> New Entries to create a new interface assignment.
  4. Enter an operator and value for one or more fields that are used for interface determination.
  5. Assign a namespace, interface name, and interface version for the given fields / values combination.

In addition to specifying values from the data structure, you can maintain checks in order to determine the correct interface:

  1. Select Assign Checks in the menu on the left-hand side.
  2. Choose Edit -> New Entries to create a new check assignment.
  3. Enter field name for one or more fields that are used for the checks.
  4. Assign a namespace and check for the given field names.
