You can assign message classes, message number, and logical system to a message category.

You can leave Message Numberempty to assign all messages from same message class.

The assigned message category is transportable.

To use message categories later, an interface-specific recipient assignment table has to be created.

A recipient can be determined by the message category from an assigned message ID and number if an interface uses a recipient assignment table.

If Message Number is left empty, all messages from the same message class are assigned to the message category.

During message processing, the error log list can be used to find the message category in the message category assignment table. Then the corresponding message category in the recipient assignment table is used to determine the recipient.

1.,,Select your namespace and a (previously created) message category.

2.,,In Changemode, select Add Entries.

3.,,Add values for Message Class, Number, and Logical System. You can also restrict the number of messages that should be included in the category.

An example for using a message category is the following:

1.,,Create a recipient assignment table using transaction SE11 and copy the template table /AIF/RECA_TMPL. If required, add key fields.

2.,,You can assign a recipient assignment table in Customizing for SAP Application Interface Framework under Define Namespace-Specific Features in Configure Alerts.

3.,,Configure the recipient assignment table.
