You use this IMG activity only if, in addition to the ones that we deliver, you want to define your own custom device group roles for fixed device groups. You may find that the delivered device group roles are quite adequate for your company.

Device group roles such as pack, load, unload, and tag commissioning specify the processes that are allowed for a particular device group. The system uses the device group role, in addition to the business process (for mobile devices ) to identify the action type (for example load, free pack, count, move) to use in SAP AII transactions.

If you define new device group roles, you must also assign them to a device group on the SAP Easy Accessscreen under Auto-ID Infrastructure → Master Data → Devices → RFID Device. (This association is already done for the delivered device group roles .) You can only assign one device group role to a device group.

The following predefined device group roles are delivered with the standard system:

• All Roles

• Load

• Unload

• Pack

• Unpack

• Move

• Tag Commissioning

• Tag Verification

• Tag Commissioning Preparation

• Tag Decommissioning
