SAP E-Book

In this IMG activity you define mapping classes and XI communication proxies for communication with a backend system.

,,Note: SAP delivers several predefined message mappings and XI proxies. You only use this activity if you want to carry out your own Customizing.

The system uses XI proxy classes and structures to send and receive messages from backend systems over XI. Because all classes are generated and can be regenerated, no business logic should be contained in these classes. Instead, you should use special mapping classes to map proxy structures to internal AII activity structures.

Technically each message mapping is an ABAP class, which implements interface /AIN/IF_BSMSG_MAPPING with methods for converting:

  • External messages from XI proxy structures into activity structures
  • Activity structures into external messages

Interface /AIN/IF_BSMSG_MAPPING also contains constants to deal with messages and to build proper activity structures.

To create an entry for a backend message:

  1. Enter the Message Name.
  2. Enter the name of XI proxy inbound class. (Leave this field empty if the message applies only to outbound)
  3. Enter the name of XI proxy outbound class. (Leave this field empty if the message applies to only to inbound )
  4. Enter the Mapping Class Name.
