SAP E-Book

In this IMG activity, you maintain element sets and their component elements. Element sets are used in various applications. For example, they determine which fields print on RFID labels, and what data a user can enter when creating a document.

An element set contains elements of a single type (such as fields ). Elements and element sets must conform to the following rules:

  • New element names must be in the customer namespace (that is, they must start with "Y" or "Z")
  • New element names must be added to the element set SAP_ALL_Fields
  • New element set names must be in the customer namespace (that is, they must start with "Y" or "Z").
  • An element set must contain elements belonging to its associated parent element set

The element set SAP_ALL_FIELDS is delivered with a set of standard field names. All other element sets of element type fields are subsets (children) of SAP_ALL_FIELDS. You can add additional fields to SAP_ALL_FIELDS.

Standard elements cannot be removed from the element set SAP_ALL_FIELDS.

Because SAP_ALL_FIELDS is parent to all other element sets, removing an element from SAP_ALL_FIELDS automatically removes it from all other element sets.

Element Sets Pre-assigned to Profiles

The following element set names are pre-assigned to profiles. You can add and remove fields from these sets.

  • SAP_PRINT_FIELD_LIST is an sample list of fields sent to the RFID printer
  • SAP_DOCUMENT_CONTEXT_SET_AUTO is an example of field prompts in the Assign Document transaction.
  • SAP_DOCUMENT_CONTEXT_SET_NOT_AUTO is an example of field prompts in the Execution transactions
  • SAP_DOCUMENT_CONTEXT_SET_BW is an example of additional fields sent to Business Intelligence.
