In this IMG activity, you create profiles with different entries for the validity period and activation period of entitlements. The system then uses these profiles during profile determination to establish a certain validity or activation period for an entitlement depending on particular parameters, for example product or region.

The activation period is only relevant for entitlements in the deferred clearing strategy.

The system automatically assigns the profiles you create here to the profile type Entitlement Date Profile (ENDTPF).

You would like to set different validity periods for Europe and North America for entitlements that are acquired when purchasing product X10. You want the entitlement to have a validity period of 10 months in Europe and 12 months in North America.

You define the following profiles:

• VALID_EUR with a 10 month validity period

• VALID_NA with a 12 month validity period

For business partners in the region of Europe, select the profile VALID_EUR in the profile determination rules for the profile type Entitlement Date Profile (ENTTPF). For business partners in the region of North America, select the profile VALID_NA.

Now, if somebody in Europe purchases product X10, they receive an entitlement with a validity period of 10 months.
