The embedded Analytics of Commercial Project Management (CA-CPD) consists of the following analytical reports based on (business intelligence) BI queries:

  • Project Cost Status (PCS) report: Includes data such as planned versus actual costs and revenues
  • Progress Analysis report: Analysis based on the Progress Analysis function of Project System (PS); includes data such as earned values, percentage of completion (POC)
  • Work in Progress report: Analysis based on the Results Analysis function of Controlling(CO); includes data such as unbilled revenue and WIP

To customize these embedded analytics delivered with Commercial Project Management, you use a combination of configurations specified in Customizing and in the Business Rule Framework plus Workbench (BRFplus Workbench).

You use master projects to plan against resources (for example, architect) and resource types (for example, activity).

In SAP S/4HANA, the actual costs and revenues are posted against cost elements. For a meaningful comparison of planned and actual values in Commercial Project Management, you must enrich the actual data records with attributes such as resource and resource type. Such enrichment makes the actual data meaningful in the context of Commercial Project Management.

To enrich the actual data, follow the configuration steps specified in the following Customizing activities:

  1. Map Actual Records to Cost and Revenue Characteristics
With this activity, you can enrich the resource and resource type in BRFplus.
  1. Define Key Figure Elements
With this activity, you can enrich the actual record with the key figure element (that is used in analytical reports for displaying data grouped according to the business need). You can also map the value of the actual record to the key figure column (for example, the actual cost, actual revenue) shown in the Project Cost Status report.
