You can use this Customizing activity to map cost elements (or cost element groups) to key figure elements and their corresponding resources and resource types. This setting is the single source for defining key figure elements and their usage across different reports available as part of the project overview.
You have made all the required configurations in SAP S/4HANA, for example, the definition of the controlling area, cost elements, and general ledger accounts.
As an alternative, if you are upgrading to SAP S/4HANA 1809 FPS01, you can also use the report Migrate Configuration of Key Figures and Resource Types to migrate existing settings from the following Customizing activities:
If you maintain a cost element range, the system creates individual entries for each of the cost elements in the range. If you enter a cost element group, the system creates individual entries for each cost element in the group.
However, if a cost element group is later updated with new cost elements, these new cost elements are not automatically added to this setting. You must instead delete and recreate the entry for the relevant cost element group.
For example, to display the actual values posted in SAP S/4HANA for the cost elements between 600000 and 640000 (to be shown as actual costs aggregated in the category Labor Costs), you would create a key figure element Labor Costand map the relevant resources or resource types for this key figure element.
