In this Customizing activity, you set up a framework to manage and monitor high-level project scope areas by assigning statuses and trends that can be used across the master project lifecycle. When this framework is set up, users (through the project workspace) can enter status updates and indicate the trend related to each project scope area.

To set up a status management framework, do the following:

  1. Define statuses and trends that will be used across different master projects. For example, statuses such as Green, Yellow, or Red, and trends such as Improving, Constant, and so on.
  2. Define project scope areas that describe the major activities in a project setup and assign status and trend indicators that are relevant for each scope area. Example project scope areas are Project Execution, Staffing, and so on.
  3. Create customized templates for status management of different master project types in your business environment. You can create a template by adding relevant project scope areas, statuses, and trends. In addition, you must also specify one scope area that will be used to represent the overall status of the master project.
Note that a status template can have only one scope area to indicate overall status.

A default status template for Project Workspace (CA-CPD-WS) delivers the following statuses, trends, and scope areas:

Status ID Description
0001 Green
0002 Yellow
0003 Red
0004 No Status

Trend ID Description
0001 Unchanged
0002 Lowering
0003 Improving
0004 No Trend

Scope Area Description
0001 Overall Status
0002 Budget andStaffing
0003 Plan and Execution
0004 Quality

To complete the status management setting, you must assign status templates to master project types and choose a periodic interval in Customizing for SAP Commercial Project Management by choosing Master Data > Master Project > Make Settings for Master Projects.

The interval for status reporting is only a default indicator. In the application, users can create status reviews for other periodic intervals as well.
