SAP E-Book

In this IMG activity, you maintain assignments between global location numbers (GLN) and SAP objects. You can then refer to the GLN of an SAP object in all relevant procurement, sales, delivery, and billing processes.

In the Direct Store Delivery process (DSD), the system only takes account of SAP objects from the company code and sales organization areas that have a global location number (GLN).

You have defined an interval for the number range object GLN in Number Range Object Maintenance (transaction SNRO).

Note that the GLN should not have more than 13 characters.

  1. Press F4 to choose the required object in the SAP Object field with ILN.
  2. Press F4 to choose the required values in the SAP Object Key field with ILN.
Note
If you do not enter the GLN in the International Location Number field, the system assigns it automatically.
  1. Enter the GLN in the International Location Number field.
  2. Choose Enter.

The system checks your entries and displays any errors. The check algorithm makes sure that the following criteria are fulfilled:
  • The organizational unit exists

  • The key of the organizational unit exists

  • The GLN is a numerical value; this is only checked if you entered the GLN manually

  • The GLN prefix and check digit are correct

  • The combination of organizational unit and organizational unit key corresponds to a unique GLN

  • The GLN is assigned to a unique combination of organizational unit and organizational unit key. If not, the system issues a warning message.

  1. Choose Save.
