In this IMG activity, you define account assignment categories with which you control the field status of your additional account assignments during posting. This means that you decide whether you account assignment characteristics must be assigned during posting. You can choose between the following field statuses (or breakdown types):

  • Required breakdown
The account assignment characteristic must be assigned when a document is posted
  • Optional breakdown
The account assignment characteristic can be assigned when a document is posted
  • No breakdown
The account assignment characteristic is hidden or deactivated when a document is posted

In IMG activity Assign Account Groups to Account Assignment Categories you assign an account assignment category to each of your account groups. The field status of an account assignment characteristic can therefore depend on the account group it belongs to.

Note

The following system settings override your settings in the account assignment categories:

  • If you have set the zero balance flag for an account assignment characteristic in IMG activity Define Account Assignment Characteristics, the breakdown type of the account assignment characteristic is always required breakdown.
  • For account assignment characteristic Legal Entity, the breakdown type is always required breakdown.

  1. Enter the Data Basis for which you want to define the account assignment categories.
The Change Account Assignment Category: Overview screen appears.
  1. Choose New Entries.
The system displays the New Entries: Detail screen.
  1. In the Account Assignment Categoryfield, enter a key of up to five characters for your account assignment category. In the short, medium and long text fields, you can enter descriptive texts of various lengths for you account assignment category.
  2. Save the account assignment category and choose Back.
The Change Account Assignment Category: Overview screen appears again.
  1. In the overview screen, select the account assignment category that you have created and, in the navigation tree, choose Field Properties by double-clicking on it.
The Change Field Properties : Overview screen appears. A list appears displaying the account assignment characteristics that you have chosen.
  1. Choose the required breakdown type for each account assignment characteristic.
  2. Save your settings.
