In this Customizing activity, you first define the valuation methods and then assign the relevant valuation methods to the relevant RBD area.

You can use this Customizing table to create the prerequisites that will allow you to define additional valuation methods and the relevant calculation bases for subsequent releases.

  • Step 1: Define RBD Valuation Method
If you define more than one valuation method, you can use the RBD: Standard Valuation Method Decision (Y/N) indicator to define the standard valuation method. The system enters this method by default when you create a RBD account, but you can overwrite the default value when you create the RBD account.
The following valuation methods are currently supported:
  • 01 - "HGB" (German Commercial Code) valuation method

The valuation method according to the German HGB is a past analysis. Therefore, you must assign this valuation method the "past" analysis horizon.
  • 02 - "IAS37/39" valuation method

The valuation method according to IAS/IFRS considers future expected cash flows. Therefore, you must assign this valuation method the "fair value" analysis horizon.
  • 10 - "ECF Procedure" valuation method

The valuation method that uses the ECF (expected cash flow) procedure considers the future expected cash flows. This individual risk provision procedure supports the simultaneous application of two accounting principles (dual GAAP procedure) in one valuation and provides greater functionality and flexibility than the "IAS37/39" valuation method. This valuation method must be assigned the "ECF" analysis horizon.
  • Step 2: Assignment of RBD Area to Valuation Method
To activate the previously define valuation methods in a RBD area, you must assign the relevant valuation method for each RBD area. For each RBD area, the system presents only these valuation methods for selection in the application.

  • Step 1: Definition of Valuation Methods
The valuation methods '01 - HGB', '02 - IAS37/39', and '10 - ECF' are to be defined. You define the valuation method '10 - ECF' as the standard valuation method.
Valuation Method Description Horizon Standard Valuation Method Short Text Valuation Method Indicator: Unwinding Function Activated General Ledger: Accounting Standard Indicator: Percentage Expectation per Cash Flow Position
01 Valuation Method per HGB Past   HGB/GCC
02 Valuation Method According to IAS37/39 Fair-Value   IAS37/39 X
10 ECF Procedure ECF X ECF X   X

  • Step 2: Assignment of relevant valuation methods per RBD area
You assign all valuation methods to the RBD area '0001'. The entries for valuation methods 01, 02, and 10 are selected. You then execute 'Assign RBD Area to Valuation Method'. In the subsequent Customizing table, you must assign the valuation method to the RBD area. You can assign only those valuation methods that were selected earlier.
