In this step you define combinations of document types and document formats, referred to as document selections. Document selections contain default properties such as style, overlay, and ordering. Also, you can define sections to structure your documents and apply the desired format. Authors are not allowed to modify sections, default style, and overlay while generating a document.

You must have performed the following activities:

To create document selections:

  1. Choose Document Selections in the dialog structure.
  2. Choose New Entries.
  3. Enter a description for the document selection and define the document selection attributes.
  4. Save your entries.

To create document sections:

Note that this step is optional. You may choose to create entries at a later stage and run report Populate Default Sections of a Document Selection to apply the previously configured sections per document format to the configured document selections. If you choose to set up sections manually, perform the following steps:

  1. Choose Sections in the dialog structure.
  2. Choose New Entries.
  3. Enter a section and a description. The number style is free.
  4. Specify a counter to reset numbering.
  5. Save your entries.

To assign a document group:

  1. Choose Document Groups in the dialog structure.
  2. Choose New Entries.
  3. Select the relevant document group.
  4. Save your entries.

To assign default regulation sets (that is, the regulation sets that will be evaluated to determine which elements to include in a document):

  1. Choose New Entries.
  2. Choose Default Regulation Sets in the dialog structure.
  3. Save your entries.

To override element properties at the element format level :

  1. Choose Element Properties in the dialog structure.
  2. Choose New Entries.
  3. Select an existing element: the corresponding regulation set, content modifier, and effective date are updated accordingly.
  4. Specify whether or not an element is mandatory, optional, or recommended. See Define Rules for more information. This setting also enables you to place the element in a section other than its previously defined default location.
  5. Set the relevant indicator if you want the element to be included by reference.
  6. Specify the default section.
  7. Save your entries.
  8. Repeat these steps for any further elements.
