SAP E-Book

In this IMG activity, you activate the EDI procedure to be used in your institution.

When you activate an EDI procedure, the system starts logging events. If you deactivate the EDI procedure, the system does not save the events that were triggered while the procedure was deactivated. For this reason, SAP recommends that you do not deactivate EDI procedures that are used in production operation, even for a short time.

Example
If you temporarily deactivate processing pursuant to Paragraph 301 SGB V (Germany), the system does not log admission events triggered during this time interval and does not transmit them to the responsible health insurer, even when you reactivate the EDI procedure.

This IMG activity also enables you to specify whether you are exchanging test or production data. When you start production operation, set the Production indicator for the respective EDI procedure.

Certain EDI procedures stipulate the length of time a message must remain in the system before it may be deleted (for example, §301 messages must be retained for two years in the system). Specify any mandatory retention period in the Residence Time field.
If you no longer use an EDI procedure, do not delete the corresponding entry in the Residence Time field. This makes sure that messages, for which the stipulated residence time has not been reached, are not archived and deleted. Deactivate only the EDI procedure, if necessary.

Relevant for Germany only

When you set the activation indicator for Paragraph 301, you automatically modify the old indicator in the IS-H: Institution-Specific Control Parameters table (TN00E). The indicator in the TN00E table is not longer evaluated. You can now only activate EDI procedures in the IS-H EDI Procedure in Institution table (TNC301GI).

Activate the EDI procedure for Paragraph 301 only if data is to be exchanged via electronic files. You must not activate this file creation while you continue to exchange data with health insurers using forms, for example.

If you activate data dispatch pursuant to Paragraph 301, you need to have set up the appropriate processing steps in the background and configured dispatch control. For information about this, see Electronic Data Interchange §301 SGB V.
