In the materials requisition function, the materials an organization unit is authorized to order are defined in catalogs. You can assign several catalogs to an organizational unit. You can maintain this assignment by choosing Assign Material Catalogs to Organizational Units.

In this IMG activity, you define these catalogs as follows:

  1. Identify a material catalog by specifying a unique ID key.
  2. You create catalogs on the overview screen, and give a name to each catalog. The catalog name is merely descriptive in nature.
  3. You enter items in a catalog by selecting the catalog on the overview screen, and then choosing Catalog Items in the navigation menu. You can enter plant-specific materials. You can specify default values for the following:
  • Order quantity

  • Minimum order quantity

  • Maximum order quantity

  • Order unit

  • Approval type.

  1. In the Unloading Point field, you enter a text that is reproduced on the subsequent MM documents. This text can, for example, be output on the goods receipt/issue slip and facilitate the organization of the material storage facility on the care unit.

You can organize your catalogs according to criteria of your choosing:

  • You can define different catalogs for different types of material, for example.
  • It is also possible to subdivide the materials for the nursing organizational units of a particular specialty.

If possible, you should define your catalogs in such a way that they can be used by several organizational units. This will reduce maintenance effort.

You can generate catalogs from the material master using the program RNUMKAT0.

Since the catalogs contain references to the logistics material master, inconsistencies in the catalogs can arise when the material master is modified. You can identify and correct such inconsistencies using the program RNUMKAT2.
