In this IMG activity, you define treatment contexts within which you can schedule visit appointments from the preregistration function.

The preregistration function lets you enter a patient for a surgery appointment, treatment appointment, or an inpatient admission appointment.

Besides these appointments, it is also possible to schedule additional visit appointments for organizing the treatment process from the preregistration function.

These additional visit appointments - grouped together in treatment contexts - are displayed in the preregistration function. You can define treatment contexts of your choosing.

For example, you can use a treatment context to bundle appointments for a particular phase in a treatment process. The status of the treatment context identifies the stage this phase has reached.

The preregistration function offers as standard the possibility of booking a surgery/treatment appointment and an admission appointment. You can define your own treatment contexts for booking other appointments.

  1. Enter the three-figure key for the treatment context in the Context field. This key is only used to identify the treatment context within the system, and is not seen by the user.
  2. In the Identifier field, enter the text for the treatment context to be seen by the user.
  3. The name describes the treatment context.
  4. If you wish to define a number of statuses for the treatment context, set the Status indicator. If you select Status, the preregistration function displays an input field for the user to set the status of the context.
  5. If you wish to stipulate the treatment context for use in the preregistration function, set the Context for Structuring Preregistration indicator.
  6. None of the remaining fields in the current row are relevant for defining a treatment context in the preregistration function.
  7. If you set the Status indicator, select the entire row, and then branch to the Context Status folder.
    1. In the Status field, enter the identifier for the status that can be assigned to the context.
    2. The content of the Name describes the status.
    3. You can choose to represent a status with an icon. To do this, select an appropriate icon from the value help for the Icon Name field.
    4. In the Sequence field, you can specify the order in which the statuses of a context are to be displayed, for example, in value helps. The sequence should be ascending, i.e. the status with the lowest number is displayed first.
    5. The Initial indicator characterizes the status that should be automatically set when a treatment context is created. Set the Initial indicator for one status per treatment context only.

You want to be able to preregister patients for surgeries. It should be possible to organize a clarification phase for a preregistered patient from the preregistration function, i.e. schedule additional appointments for the preoperative phase.

You should be able to tell from the preregistration function whether the clarification phase is in progress or has been completed.

To accommodate this scenario, make the following settings:

  • A treatment context Clarification. Since a status is to be recorded for this context, set the Status indicator.
  • Define the statuses In Process and Completed for the treatment context Clarification.
