SAP E-Book

In this Customizing activity, you can assign services to treatment categories for specific institutions and specific periods of time. The services valid on the key date are included as proposals in service entry for the case. The key date is the movement date.

  • If you change the treatment category of a case, the system automatically adjusts the services for that case according to the settings made here.
  • If you create a movement (for example, a transfer), the system determines the services defined for the treatment category on the movement date. This also happens if the treatment category is copied from the previous movement. The system adjusts the services in the case automatically according to the settings made here.
  • If you change the movement date or change the status of the movement to Actual, the system checks whether the services defined for the treatment category on the movement date match those already generated for the treatment category. If they do not match, the system adjusts the services in the case automatically according to the settings made here.

Please note that the system behavior described in these three points only applies if the user has not changed the services manually (the same as the previous system behavior).

Note: Services within a movement are not split. The system determines all the services that are valid on the key date (movement date).

  • You could define the service
,,BNC (base nursing charge) from 01/01/1990 to 12/31/9999 for treatment category A.
  • You could define the services
    ,,PNC from 01/01/1990 to 12/31/9999,
    ,,W1B (surcharge for one-bed room) from 01/01/1990 to 12/31/2013,
,,W1B_BTH (surcharge for one-bed room with bathroom) from 01/01/2014 to 12/31/9999 for treatment category P1.
  • You could define the services
,,BNC (base nursing charge) from 01/01/1990 to 12/31/9999,
    ,,W1B (surcharge for one-bed room) from 01/01/1990 to 12/31/2013,
,,W1B_BTH (surcharge for one-bed room with bathroom) from 01/01/2014 to 12/31/9999,
    ,,WTEL_12 (telephone charge 2012) from 01/01/2012 to 12/31/2012,
    ,,WTEL_13 (telephone charge 2013) from 01/01/2013 to 12/31/2013, and
    ,,WTEL_14 (telephone charge 2014) from 01/01/2014 to 12/31/2014 for treatment category P1T.
  • You could define the service
,,PT (preadmission treatment flat rate) from 01/01/1990 to 12/31/9999 for treatment category PT1.
  • You would not assign services to treatment category PT2, and so on.

If you assign treatment category P1 to a case in 2013, the system generates the services BNC and W1B. As of 2014, it generates the services BNC and W1B_BTH.

If you want to terminate the assignment of a service to a treatment category on a specific date and this date does not match the date specified, you can use the Change End Date function. Select the relevant line, choose Change End Date, and enter the date on which the assignment of the service to the treatment category is to end. You can select one or more lines. From the perspective of the system, the original entry is deleted and a new one created, since the function makes a change to the key of the record.

Note: You define services for a treatment category for a specific period. The following are key fields:

  • Institution
  • Treatment Category
  • Service Catalog
  • Service
  • End Date

The key date for reading the services is the movement date. If you define services for a treatment category with overlaps (for example, Flat Rate 1 from 01/01/2013 to 08/31/2013 and Flat Rate 2 from 08/01/2013 to 12/31/2014), you must clean up the surplus services generated for a case using a service rule. (In this example, Flat Rate 1 and 2 would both be generated if the movement date were 08/10/2013.)

The institution, treatment categories, and services you want to use for the assignments must have been created beforehand.

The function Time-Dependent Services per Treatment Category must be active (Maintain Client-Specific Basic Control/Set Client-Specific Control Parameters).
If this indicator is not active, the system uses the entries from Assign Services to Treatment Categories to determine the services for a treatment category. Entries defined here are only displayed and cannot be changed.

You can use the migration report RN_TN24L_DT_MIGRATION to migrate the services defined per treatment category to time-dependent services per treatment category.
For more information about the migration report, see the report documentation, and for more information about time-dependent services per treatment category the release notes and SAP Note 1844825.

To assign a service to a treatment category, enter the following:

  • Validity period in the Valid From and Valid To fields
If the validity period is not within the validity period of the treatment category, the system displays a warning message (type "W"). The date is not checked against the validity date of the service in the service master.
If you assign the same service with an overlap, the system displays a warning message (type "W").

Note: You can use enhancement N1200001 to change the services that were generated by a treatment category.

Country version Germany:

You do not normally use a treatment category to generate the departmental per diem; instead, you will normally define it along with the organizational units.
