SAP E-Book

The information container is a temporary storage area, in which you can update information for other systems (SAP and external systems) in the form of confirmations, and forward them to these systems.

Do not store any mass data, such as general clearing information or daily master data changes. To forward general clearing information, you can use the Forward Clearing Information mass activity (in the application menu under Collections/Disbursements → Periodic Processing → Transfer Data).

A confirmation in the information container consists of the following elements:

  • General information for identification of the confirmation (information type, system data, data for the mass activity)
  • General master data information (business partner, contract account, insurance object)
  • Actual process information (dependent on the triggering process, such as the dunning level reached in the dunning process).

The information is stored in a standardized form and can be sent to upstream and downstream systems with various communication channels (communication types), such as SAP XI, RFC and your own files/structures.

The structure of the information container corresponds to the DVIINFO database table. It is also possible to update more information for the triggering process in a data container. You can influence the structure of the confirmation with IMG settings for the information type, and with the customization of event V253.

Notes

  • The activities in this IMG area contain settings for storing data in the information container, and for forwarding it for predefined transfer events. You control receipt and further processing of data in the recipient system.
  • The information updated in the information container has exception character. This includes the following information:
  • A dunning level has been reached (see information type V001 – special dunning level).

  • Returns have been received from the bank (see information type V002 – returns).

  • A premium deposit does not contain enough credit (see information type V003 - insufficient deposit coverage).

IMG Settings for the Information Container

  • Origin of Information
To enable a recipient system to correctly assign and process data from the information container, the confirmations must contain information about the triggering system. The triggering systems are defined in the Define Origin of Information (Old) IMG activity. The delivered standard information types have FS-CD as the triggering system.
  • Communication Types
In the Activate Communication Types (Old) IMG activity, you activate the communication paths that you want to use to transfer data from the information container to other systems or components.
  • Information Types
The confirmations in the information container are based on information types. You can find the settings for the delivered standard information types in the Define Information Types (Old) IMG activity. To use these information types, activate the update for the information types and assign the desired communication type for forwarding. You must make additional settings for some information types. You can find more information in the documentation for the IMG activity.
  • Archiving
When you define information types, define how many days the entries for this information type must remain in the information container before they can be archived, for each information type. You can the settings for archiving in the Activate Archive Info Structure for Info Container Archive (Old) IMG activity.

Data Transfer to Recipient Systems

Forwarding information from the information container for defined transfer events takes place with the Forward Information (Old) mass activity (VINFO1). You can find this function in the area menu for Collections/Disbursements, under Periodic Processing → Transfer Data → Information Container (Old) → Forward Information (Old).

The communication type selected determines which function modules contain the confirmations for an information type:

C. Type Event
SAP XI V225
RFC V226
File V227
