In this activity you define number range intervals for the number ranges that are used for packages. The system creates each package under a unique key. You can define an internal or external number range for assigning the key.

  • If you do not specify a key when you create a package, the system assigns a sequential number from the internal number range as a key automatically.
  • If you specify a key when you create a package, the system checks this entry against the external number range.

The Ext indicator controls whether a number range is internal or external.

Transport:

To transport number range objects, on the Number Range Object for Package Number screen, choose the menu option Interval → Transport.

Note:
Note that the system first deletes all intervals for the selected number range object in the target system, meaning that once the import has taken place only the exported intervals are available.

Number levels are imported with the value they had at the time of the export. Dependent tables are not transported or converted.

To define a number range, you must insert a new number interval using the following procedure:

  1. Enter an alphanumeric key with a maximum of two digits.
  2. Enter the limits for the number interval. Number intervals must not overlap. Each number can therefore only appear once.
  3. Select the Ext. indicator for external number range intervals.
  4. Define the Number Range Usage for the number range object for the package (ISM_PK_ID).
