ISM_CHARNAMEIDCDTYPE - Assign ID Code Type to Characteristic

In this step, you assign an ID code type to a characteristic from the classification system so that you can identify the media product master as the characteristic value when using ID codes.

You can determine the media product master by the ID code instead of by material number in cost planning using a costing model (Easy Cost Planning).

When planning the follow-on circulation for a media issue, the remaining copies of the media issue being replaced are to be included as depreciation costs in the cost estimate for the follow-on circulation. The cost estimate is to be made using a costing model. You want to use the ISBN of the media issue as the characteristic value to determine the depreciation costs.

You have created an ID code type for ISBN numbers. You specified that ISBN numbers cannot be assigned to more than one media product master records in the Customizing settings for the ID code type.

Create the characteristic 'ISBN' with referrence to the table field JPTIDCDASSIGN-IDENTCODE and assign the ID code type for ISBN numbers to the characteristic in this IMG activity.

Create a costing model and assign the characteristic for the ID code of the material being replaced to it, as well as a characteristic for the remaining quantity of the original material. Create a material item "Media issue replaced" in the template. Enter the characteristic for the ID code as the object. Use the characteristic for the remaining amount as the quantity.

Create an appropriation request to plan a new media issue. Use the ECP costing for cost planning. Select the costing model you just created, enter the ID code and the remaining depreciation amount in the appropriate characteristics and copy the entries.

The value of the material item is now calculated based on the standard price of the media issue determined from the ID code and the specified quantity.

You should have created a characteristic with reference to the table field JPTIDCDASSIGN-IDENTCODE for the ID code.
