In this step, you make the settings for field selection for media-specific fields.

All screens for which a field selection is possible are grouped together in screen groups, for example, all title data.

Fields termed modifiable and influencing are defined for each screen group:

  • For modifiable fields, you use an indicator to define how the individual fields are displayed on the screen:
  • Field is ready for input (standard setting)

  • Field requires an entry (required entry)

  • Field is only displayed

  • Field is hidden

  • Field is highlighted

For example, if you want the publication date to be a required entry for a certain material type at issue level, select the appropriate indicator.
  • You specify a value for influencing fields to determine how the modifiable field is displayed on the screen. For example, you might specify that the fields Subtitle 2 and Subtitle 3 are only shown in display mode for a certain user.

You can transport field selection settings and they are not affected by release upgrades.

If a modified field becomes required as a result of a change to an influencing field, the system does not check whether this field contains an entry in all the existing objects.

Fields defined in the application as required fields cannot be modified.

No standard settings are supplied for field selection.

Modifiable and influencing fields are defined for each screen group and enhancements are not possible.

You can define a field selection in several different ways:

You can maintain the indicators for the modifiable fields independently of an influencing value by proceeding as follows:

  1. Position the cursor on a screen group.
  2. Choose Modifiable.
The system displays all the fields you can modify for this screen group.
  1. Maintain the indicators and save your entries.

To maintain an influencing value for an influencing field and then maintain the indicators for the modifiable fields, proceed as follows:

  1. Position the cursor on a screen group.
  2. Choose Influencing.
The system displays all the fields for which you can maintain influencing values.
  1. Double click on the influencing field for which you want to maintain a value.
The system displays all the fields that can be modified for the influencing value.
  1. Enter a value in the field Contents and enter the appropriate indicators for the modifiable fields.
  2. Press Enter.
The system accepts the entries.
  1. Enter further values for the influencing field or select additional fields by choosing Influencing.
  2. Save your entries.

To maintain an indicator for a modifiable field and define the values of the influencing fields, proceed as follows:

  1. Position the cursor on a screen group and choose Modifiable.
The system displays all the fields you can modify for this screen group.
  1. Double click on a modifiable field for which you want to maintain influencing values.
All the influencing fields are displayed.
  1. Position the cursor on an influencing field for which you want to enter a value and choose New values.
A dialog box appears.
  1. Enter a value and indicator for the influencing field and choose Continue.
The system accepts the entries.
  1. Save your entries.

Transport your settings if applicable. To do this, choose Field selection → Transport.

Choose module pool SAPLJPMM.
