You can use this BAdI to define products for sale via the Internet.

  • You can use the method GET_PRODUCTS_SINGLE_COPY_SALE for retail. If you perform retail via the Internet, you must specify the materials allowed for retail for this method in table PRODUCT_TAB or PRODUCT_VARIANTS_TAB. The following three examples illustrate when the data must be entered in which table.
Example 1:
Your company produces a magazine USA and sells it in the USA. The magazine does not have regional editions or an edition for sale abroad. You want to retail your magazine USA via the Internet. You created the media product as USA and the media issues US0101XX through US1231YY, where XX and YY stand for the year. You would specify "USA" in the Product field in the parameter PRODUCT_TAB. You would specify the media issue by entering the copy number in the field COPY_NUMBER or the publication date for the parameter PUBL_DATE. Depending on whether you want to see the copy number and/or the publication date in the Internet transaction, specify it in the parameter COPY_NUMBER and/or PUBL_DATE.
Example 2:
Your company publishes a newspaper PAPER, which has different regional editions, NORTH and SOUTH. You do not want the customer to see that these different regional editions exist. The customer simply buys the newspaper and receives edition NORTH in northern states and SOUTH in the South.
You want to retail PAPER via the Internet. You have created the media family PAPER for your newspaper and the regional editions are recorded as media products. You have created the media product PANORTH for the regional edition NORTH and the media product PASOUTH for the regional edition SOUTH. Media issues PASOUTH0101XX through PASOUTH1231YY and PANORTH0101XX through PANORTH1231YY exist for the regional editions PANORTH and PASOUTH, where XX and YY stand for the year. You enter "PAPER" in the PRODUCT field label for parameter PRODUCT_VARIANTS_TAB. Specify the publication date in the field label PUBL_DATE for parameter PRODUCT_VARIANTS_TAB.
If the system identifies two or more media issues for the publication date chosen by the customer when creating the purchase order, it processes the BAdI ISM_SELECT_ISSUE.
Example 3:
Your company publishes a newspaper PAPER, that has different regional editions, called NORTH and SOUTH. Unlike in example 2, customers are allowed to see that these different regional editions exist. The customer buys the newspaper PAPER edition NORTH or SOUTH explicitly.
You want to retail newspaper PAPER via the Internet. You have created the media family PAPER for your newspaper. The regional editions are recorded as media products. You have created the media product PANORTH for the regional edition NORTH and PASOUTH for the regional edition SOUTH. Media issues PASOUTH0101XX through PASOUTH1231YY and PANORTH0101XX and PANORTH1231YY exist for the regional editions PANORTH and PASOUTH, where XX and YY stand for the year. Enter "PANORTH" for the northern edition in field label PRODUCT for the parameter PRODUCT_TAB. Specify the publication date in the field label PUBL_DATE for parameter PRODUCT_TAB. You can specify the copy number instead in the parameter COPY_NUMBER. You must do the same for the southern edition. Specify "PASOUTH" in the field label PRODUCT for the parameter PRODUCT_TAB. Specify the publication date in the field label PUBL_DATE for the parameter PRODUCT_TAB. You can specify the copy number instead in the parameter COPY_NUMBER.
Note:
  • You can mix examples 2 and 3 if you have customers who know the regional edition they want and other customers who do not know that there are different regional editions.

  • If your company publishes products whose regional structure is known to customers and other products whose regional structure is hidden, you must enter data in tables PRODUCT_TAB and PRODUCT_VARIANTS_TAB depending on the product in question.
