Subject: SV: Journaling to separate User-ASP
hi all
at the moment we are using seperate asp for journal-recievers (pre-install
from ibm)
(for better performance ?? or avaibility ??) , but running in the same
raid-5 set ???
at the moment we are planning to install more diskspace, so i'am considering
dropping the extra asp
[R. Wiesmayr]
IMHO running ASP 2 in the same RAID set as ASP 1
does not give more availability, because if the RAID set fails
(i.e. 2 disks fail, and this does happen - believe me!)
you lose both ASPs. For this reason we recently dropped ASP 2
on a test machine.
For the performance implications see my previous posting.
For maximal availability you should consider spending one or two
MIRRORED pairs for the journal ASP (if it 's a production machine)
even if your system ASP is RAID.
Kind regards
Rudi
