Starting Point for Save Job in Journals

Hi Chris,

I think, it's NOT a good idea, to use SAVLIB once a week and then every day
SAVCHGOBJ. Because all of the big tables are changed, this backup is only
slightly smaller than the SAVLIB. So, you win nearly nothing during the
normal backup every day.
In the desaster recovery you lose a lot. You first have to reload the weekly
SAVLIB backup and then the last SAVCHGOBJ and finally you have to search the
F-Code SS for the start of save in order to apply the journal changes from
after that.

I would suggest, to do every night a full backup as follows:
SAVLIB SAVACT(*LIB) SAVACTWAIT(3600)
Then you can do the APYJRNCHG (or better as of V5R1 APYJRNCHGX (x=>
extended!)) from the point of the F-Code SS and start over then to your
point of failure.

Regards
