Experience with the tapedrive IBM Ultrium LTO 3581

Hi Stefan,
I use a 3581 on our 270 with about 250GB used space. I also have a
3570-C11, which we used prior to getting the 3581.
In our case the backup went down from about 7 hours on the 3570 to about
4 hours on the 3581. It's a fast tape drive.
As I cannot confirm that restore of IFS objects is much slower compared
to restoring it from a 3570 I can confirm that the restore of individual
objects can take a long time due to the 200MB of data on a single
cartridge. Maybe that is the reason of the "rumor" that restores take
much longer.

3581

Hello everybody,

has anyone experience with the tapedrive IBM Ultrium LTO 3581 ?
We are planning to change from 3570 B11 to this drive and heard, that
the LTO-medium is more slower with IFS-files in case of restore.
The alternate for us is the Magstar 3570 C-XL.

Many greetings

i.A.
