| If lock operations are repeated, the wait time (by default, 1 |
| second) is reduced or increased by a random offset to avoid |
| deadlocks due to synchronization. |
| This parameter defines the maximum offset in milliseconds. |
| The wait time between two attempts for the lock operation is then |
| in the period [wait time - offset, wait time + offset]. |
| With the default setting of 400 ms, this is between 0.6 and 1.4 |
| seconds. |
