Message : CPA58EE
Line &23 failed. Probable cabling or hardware problem. (C G R)

Message Long Text :

Cause . . . . . : The connection to the local area network failed. The probable causes are:
-- A cabling problem.
-- A token-ring network multistation access unit problem.
-- An Ethernet media access unit (transceiver) problem.
-- An Ethernet attachment unit interface (transceiver cable) problem.
-- A configuration problem (for new configurations).
-- A token-ring line speed mismatch (for new configurations).
-- An input/output adapter (IOA) problem.
Recovery . . . : Use the DSPMSG command to find the message in the system operator message queue (QSYSOPR) or the configured message queue that accompanied this message for the same line. (This message may have already arrived or you may have to wait a few minutes for it to arrive.) That message will show the original problem.
Perform the following recovery steps:
Perform the recovery actions for the accompanying message. If those actions do not correct the problem, perform the following additional recovery actions:
Visually check the cables for this line. If there is a cabling problem, fix it and reply either 'G' or 'R' for this message response.
For new or recently changed token ring (TRN) configurations, verify the line speed (LINESPEED) parameter is correct in the line description. If the line speed is not correct, do the following:
-- Vary off line &23 using the VRYCFG command.
-- Change the LINESPEED parameter to match the speed of the network in the line description using the CHGLINTRN command.
-- Vary on line &23 using the VRYCFG command, specify RESET(*YES) if allowed for this line.
If the problem continues, report the problem (ANZPRB command).
Reply 'C' for this message response.
Possible choices for replying to message . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . :
C -- Cancel recovery and inform any applications that are waiting for an operation that the recovery has been canceled.
G -- Start the automatic communications recovery again as defined by the communications recovery limit (CMNRCYLMT) for line &23.
R -- Try the operation one more time.
Technical description . . . . . . . . : The error log identifier is &22.
The error code is &40. The error codes and their meanings follow:
53001A80 -- Failed adapter condition. If the network is a token-ring network, the adapter removed itself from the network. If the network is Ethernet, the adapter lost communications with the network. This error was reported by the medium access control (MAC) layer.
53002AC0 -- Failed adapter condition. If the network is a token-ring network, the adapter removed itself from the network. If the network is Ethernet, the adapter lost communications with the network. This error was reported by the logical link control (LLC) layer.
