In this table you make settings referring to the shop floor control of a plant. For this you can maintain the following parameters:

1. You decide if your material is produced in bundles. You additionally specify whether the bundle maintenance should be carried out in the production order with quantity adjustment or using the SKUs. You can use this function in the planned order as well.

2. You determine which logic is used for the availability check in the

production order or in the planned order. For this you have two

options. You can check the availability of the current requirement (components) by requirements date or by the creation date.

Here the receipt of the requirement is considered. The system checks

if the requirement can be confirmed for the requested delivery date. The latter corresponds to the R/3 Standard logic.

1. Example for bundles

You produce a finished product by using bundles. The bundle contains 50 pieces of a certain size, color, and category. For this the data is defined in the external system per user-exit. The bundle quantity of 50 pieces can correspond to the quantity (SKU level) that is maintained in your production order. But it can also happen that your production order contains a production quantity of 55 pieces. With the AFS System you can adjust the quantity of the production order to the bundle quantity (50 pieces). For the remaining quantity of 5 pieces you must create a new production order.

2. Example for the availability check

a. Check of the current requirement by requirements date

Beginning stock: 100 pieces

Prod.ord. Requ.date Requ.qty Confirmed qty
Prod.ord. 1 30.11.1999 50 pieces 50 pieces
Prod.ord. 2 15.12.1999 20 pieces 20 pieces
Prod.ord. 3 20.12.1999 30 pieces 30 pieces

In this situation you open and release a production order. On the 17.12.1999 this order has a requirement of 20 pieces. The availability check distributes the stock of 100 pieces as follows:

Prod.ord. Requ.date Distributed stock
Prod.ord. 1 30.11.1999 50 pieces
Prod.ord .2 15.12.1999 20 pieces
Prod.ord. 4 17.12.1999 20 pieces
Prod.ord 3 20.12.1999 10 pieces

If you start the availability check for order 4, the system confirms

the ordered quantity of 20 pieces. For order 3 that has already been

confirmed with 30 pieces there is a shortage of 20 pieces. The confirmed quantity will not automatically be reset for this order.

b. Check of the current requirement by requested delivery date

Beginning stock: see above

Prod.ord Requ.date Requ.qty Conf.qty Missing parts
Prod.ord 1 30.11.1999 50 pieces 50 pieces
Prod.ord 2 15.12.1999 20 pieces 20 pieces
Prod.ord 3 20.12.1999 30 pieces 30 pieces
Prod.ord 4 17.12.1999 20 pieces 0 pieces 20 pieces

To define the shop floor control for a plant, you must make the following settings:

  • Enter a plant for which the shop floor control is carried out.
  • You determine for all materials that are produced in the plant, whether they are produced with bundles.
  • You specify whether the quantity that is maintained in the production order or in the planned order should be adjusted to the bundle quantity if need be. If not, the bundle maintenance is made via the SKUs.
  • You decide whether you check the availability for the current requirement (components) by requirements date (blank) or by requested delivery date (X).

For the check of the current requirement by requirements date, AFS recommends the following. Regularly start a collective availability check to avoid above mentioned inconsistencies.

If you choose the check of the current requirement by requested delivery date, note the following. If you receive a requirement whose

requirements date is before the already existing requirements, it is

still only checked after all other requirements have been confirmed.

Specify for a plant whether all materials that are produced in that plant should be produced with bundles. Choose one of the two options for maintaining the bundles.

Choose whether you want to carry out the availability check for your components in the production order or in the planned order by the R/3 Standard logic.

In the view AFS MRP of the material master you can define for a material, whether it should be produced in bundles. Only if you do not make any entries does the system pull the data you have created in Customizing.

The bundle maintenance via SKU is more complicated but clearer than the bundle maitenance with quantity adjustment which displays all SKUs on one screen.
