SAP E-Book

This document provides you with the information about what you need to do to activate the integration of the SAP Environmental Compliance application with the Work Area of the Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S component.

The EH&S work area supports Industrial Hygiene and Safety specialists. The EH&S work area is the basic organizational unit of Industrial Hygiene and Safety. Work areas can be defined from different perspectives, for example, related to processes, assets, task areas, or person groups.

SAP Environmental Compliance (previously called SAP xEM) supports a business Compliance Management that you can use to cover legal requirements for assets. In the SAP Environmental Compliance system it is also possible to link EH&S work areas with an SAP Environmental Compliance asset.

With the integration of SAP Environmental Compliance with the EH&S work area it is possible to provide information about the linked objects "Asset" (SAP Environmental Compliance) and "Work Area" (EH&S Industrial Hygiene and Safety).

This means that in the EH&S work area, information about assets can be displayed to which the EH&S work area is assigned in SAP Environmental Compliance.

The following explains the activities that are necessary for activating the integration.

  • The OPS_EC_INTEGRATION business function must be switched on. In transaction SFW5 (switch framework Customizing), check the "ENTERPRISE_BUSINESS_FUNCTIONS" node to see whether this business function is switched on.
  • The DFPS_OF_OS business function must be switched on. In transaction SFW5, check the "ENTERPRISE_BUSINESS_FUNCTIONS" node to see whether this business function is switched on.
  • To enable communication between the ERP system and SAP Environmental Compliance, settings for the logical ports (transaction LPCONFIG) and for connections to external http servers (transaction SM59) are necessary.
These settings should already have been made with the activation of the OPS_EC_INTEGRATION business function. However, you should check these settings.
In SAP Note 1161250, the "Maintain Logical Ports for Web Services" and "System Connections" chapters describe in detail the settings that you need to make.

If the prerequisites described above have been fulfilled and the described settings have been made, the basic prerequisite for integrating SAP Environmental Compliance with the EH&S work area has been fulfilled.

The Customizing settings described in the following make the integration into the EH&S work area visible.

  • Customizing setting for the advanced search function via SAP Environmental Compliance assets in the transaction for editing work areas (transaction CBIH02):
In Customizing, navigate to the Customizing activity Environment, Health & Safety -> Basic Data and Tools -> Basic Settings -> Manage User Exits.
Create a new entry with the following properties:
User exit category: "WKA_QUERY"
User exit: "WKA_ENVC"
Specification category: " "
Function module: "ENHI_WA15_WA_FIND_BY_ENVC"
Sorting: "4"
User exit description: "Environmental Compliance assets..."
Function module: "CBIH_WA15_WA_FIND_BY_HEAD"
Comment:
Any user exit description can be chosen. The advanced search function appears under this description on the initial screen of the EH&S work area.

  • Customizing setting for the additional "Asset" tab page in the integration objects of the EH&S work area for displaying the asset data (transaction CBIH02):
In Customizing, navigate to the Customizing activity Environment, Health & Safety -> Industrial Hygiene and Safety -> Integration -> Specify Integration Objects for Work Area Management.
Create a new entry with the following properties:
IOTY (Integration object category): "ENVC"
Description of the integration object category: "Asset"
Navigate to the detail of this newly created entry and enter the following properties:
Int. object category: "ENVC"
Description: "Asset"
Program name: "SAPLENHI_LB08"
Screen number: "8010"
FCode handler: "ENHI_LB08_OKCODE"
FM prefix: "ENHI_LB08_ENVC"
Function code: "ENVC"
Comment:
Any integration object category description can be chosen. The new tab page appears under this description for the integration objects of the EH&S work area.

Function code:

The prerequisites, in particular those for the business functions, are checked in the transaction for the work area (transaction CBIH02) at runtime. If the prerequisites are not fulfilled, the system issues a message that the integration set-up is incomplete.

When the integration is completely set up, the reading of asset data from SAP Environmental Compliance can still fail, for example, if the SAP Environmental Compliance system is not available. A notification is also displayed for this. There is no termination. You can continue the work in the transaction for the work area (transaction CBIH02).
