Definition
Alphanumeric character string for grouping together materials by combining different characteristics. It is used for analyses and price determination.
Use
In the standard SAP System, the product hierarchy can have up to 3 levels, each with a specific number of characters.

| 1 | 5 |
| 2 | 5 |
| 3 | 8 |
Procedure
Examples
You define a product hierarchy with the following levels:
| Level | Example | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 00005 | Electrical goods |
| 2 | 00003 | Wet appliances |
| 3 | 00000001 | Washing machine |
In this case, a washing machine belongs to the product hierarchy 000050000300000001.
