Overview of the most important Application Log function groups
- SBAL
Collects messages.
You open a log, e.g. with BAL_LOG_CREATE and put messages in it with BAL_LOG_MSG_ADD.
- SBAL_DISPLAY
Displays logs. The most important module is BAL_DSP_LOG_DISPLAY which displays logs in full screen.
The function modules which begin with BAL_DSP_OUTPUT_... output logs in a subscreen.
- SBAL_CNTL
Display log in Control container.
BAL_CNTL_CREATE creates the control, BAL_CNTL_REFRESH displays a new dataset in this control and BAL_CNTL_FREE deletes this control.
- SBAL_PROFILE
The separation of data and presentation is an important principle in the display modules in function groups SABL_DISPLAY and SBAL_CNTL: you can specify the data format in display profiles.
The function group SBAL_PROFILE contains various display profiles, or you can create your own.
For example, BAL_DSP_PROFILE_POPUP_GET contains a display profile which displays a log in a popup.
- SBAL_DB
Application Log database interface.
You can save logs in the database with BAL_DB_SAVE, BAL_DB_SEARCH searches for logs and BAL_DB_LOAD loads them into main memory.
- SBAL_TOOLBOX
Rarely-used modules for special scenarios.
BAL_DB_ENQUEUE locks an existing log which can then be loaded into main memory and changed (e.g. with BAL_LOG_HDR_CHANGE and BAL_LOG_MSG_CHANGE.
