SAP on AS/400 in Asia
The iSeries announced in May 2000 future availability of Asian (DBCS)
languages on the iSeries. This support has been successfully piloted and
has passed through controlled availability with several customers and will
be released generally soon.
This solution uses a Unicode database on the iSeries and supports OS/400
SAP ASCII application servers, which uses the SAP support for multiple
languages (MDMP).
We, therefore, have only a few Asian DBCS customers - in Japan, with
customers identified in China and Korea who are awaiting general release.
In other Asian companies with no DBCS requirements, such as Malaysia and
Indonesia, we have had a number of recent large iSeries customers.
