The second available function SRTV_CALL_DOCUMENT_RETRIEVER retrieves from the lexicon, compiled in SRTV_CALL_CORPUS_COMPILER, the documents that match the words of the query text entered by the user. The final result is a hit list of documents closest to the query text given by the user.

The query text is parsed and the relevant words are each compared to the entries of the lexicon. According to the importance of the word, a relevance value is calculated which will contribute to find which documents matches the closest to the query text.

This search tool differs from the ordinary search tools by the rules it uses during the retrieval process. Four search methods are applied on the terms of the query text to make the search more accurate by checking for:

Associate terms or composed terms which are made out of different words contained in the lexicon. An example is the word leadership, which is composed of the words leader and ship. Both words will be searched in the lexicon. For performance reasons you might exclude the associative search, see below.

Similar words have the same root as terms found in the lexicon. This is the exact search method.

Phonetic hash: allows the search and retrieval of terms that phonetically sound similar. A word written incorrectly can be found and matched to a word listed in the lexicon that has an equal phonetic hash value. For example, the words entered by the user soni will be matched with the term sony listed in the lexicon and the corresponding documents will be included into the hit list.

Attributes terms are special terms provided by the user.

It is possible to choose between the different search methods through the importing parameter id_search_opt.
