Report Writer: Exporting Reports to PC

Beschreibung

Reports can now be exported to a file on the presentation server. As a result, reports can be directly exported to a PC.

This way, the following output mediums are now supported:

  • Output medium '0': Screen/printer

  • Output medium '1': File on the application server

  • Output medium '2': File on the presentation server

For output medium '2', the output formats

  • '0': list format

  • '1': table format

are supported (see F1 help).

For reports which are exported to the presentation server (output medium '2') in the table format (output format '1'), several file formats are supported:

  • ASC - ASCII (text format)

  • BIN - binary format

  • WK1 - spreadsheet analysis format

  • DAT - data table ASCII with column tab

The export can be carried out in the following ways:

  • When starting the report output through output medium '2'.
  • In the report output via the menu 'Reporting' -> 'Output' -> 'Export'; an input window is then displayed into which the desired output medium can be entered. There, output format, file format and export file are also specified.

Weitere Hinweise

If the report is to be imported into a spreadsheet routine, both output formats ('0' and '1') are suitable. In this case, the following are to be considered:

  • Output format '0': The report is exported as a text file. To carry out imports into a spreadsheet routine correctly to cells, the current column break character must be entered during the import (this is supported, for example, by Microsoft EXCEL). The column headings are also issued in this format.
  • Output format '1': The report is exported as a table without column headings and formatting characters. Mainly 'WK1' and 'DAT' are suitable as file formats (on presentation servers). Such files can be imported correctly to cells by all standard spreadsheet routines.
