Report Writer: Additional functions for exporting to PC

Beschreibung

  1. Executing a program after exporting to PC
If a report is output to the presentation server (output medium '2'), for example. to a PC, you can now specify a program which should be run on the PC after the export. In addition to the program name, you can also specify parameters for the program.
This enables you to export a report to the PC, and have it processed automatically by a spreadsheet.
You can define the program name, program parameters and the file name in the report definition (for example, transaction Change Report).
  1. Headings when exporting in the table format
Previously, column headings were not exported when exporting reports in the table format (output format '1'). This function is now supported when exporting to the presentation server.
If the standard headings are suppressed using column text type '9', the headings are created and exported from the report headers in accordance with the column structure. In this case, the headers should only contain the text necessary for the column headings, otherwise meaningless headings could be created. You can also define further texts for the export on the title page. See below.
  1. Export of the title, end and comment pages
If the export is performed in the table format, the title, end and comment pages are also exported. Exception: this is not possible in the WK1 format.
Headers and footers are not exported (exception for column text type '9', see above). It is therefore advisable to document any additional, necessary information on the title page of the report.

Änderungen in der Vorgehensweise

Example: After exporting the report to a PC with Windows or OS/2, you want to load the file to the Excel spreadsheet program. To do this, enter the following:

Program: c:\excel\excel
Parameters: &&

If you enter '&&' in the field 'Parameters', the system automatically replaces this with the current file name when the program is executed. You do not need to specify the path 'c:\excel' (or the path on your PC) if you have set this as the standard path.

If you output a report group with several reports directly to the PC (output medium '2'), the reports are exported according to the data defined for the file name and program in the report definitions. If no file name is specified for a report, you are requested to enter the name on an online screen.

Weitere Hinweise

The default values for output and file format were changed to '1' or 'DAT'. These are also the optimal values to export a report to the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet program.
