Report Writer: Row formulas in the report

Beschreibung

In a Report Writer report, you can now define row formulas directly. These row formulas link together different rows.

Example: You have defined two multi-dimension sets for the report rows; you want to define a row containing the difference between the highest totals of the logical rows. You would define the rows as follows:

                    Set
                    | Formula
                    | | Ratio block
Number  Row block   | | | Description
------  ----------- - - - ------------------------------
1       TZ-RACCT-01 X     area 1
2       TZ-RACCT-02 X     area 2
3      <001> - <0..  X   area 1 - area 2

The formula is '<001> -<002>'.

The following rules apply to row formulas:

  • Operands always use the value of the highest sum of the row set. This is the value at level '1' of the set. If you use negative values when defining the levels for a set dimension, the system cannot process the row formula.
  • Operands of a row formula can only refer to row elements of type 'set'. Operands have the form , where nnn is the number of the row.
  • You can use the basic operations +-*/ and parantheses ().
  • If a report contains more than one logical row, the resulting formula columns will be the lowest number of columns defined for the logical rows.
  • When processing a report for which print classes are defined, the result of the formula uses the highest defined print class. Exception: if one of the classes has the value '0', the system uses this value.
  • When processing a report that contains both row formulas and column formulas, the system processes column formulas first.

Änderungen an der Oberfläche

The entry of ratio blocks in report rows has been changed as described below.

The row definition tells you whether the row elements are of the type 'set', 'formula' or 'ratio block'.

Änderungen in der Vorgehensweise

You define and insert row formulas in the row definition of a report. You do this using the function 'Edit' -> 'Insert formula...', the cursor is positioned on the row above which the formula is to be inserted. The system then displays a pop-up window in which you can enter the formula.

To display or change a formula already inserted, you can select the formula by double clicking on the line.

If you have created ratio blocks for the report, you can now insert them using the function 'Edit' -> 'Insert ratios'. If there are several ratio blocks, you can select a block from a pop-up window which appears automatically. It is no longer possible to enter the number of the ratio block directly.

If you double click on a row with a ratio block, you will access ratio block maintenance directly.

Abhängige Funktionen

Planungen

The following functions are currently not available, but are planned for future releases:

  • Suppressing rows which are only needed for calculations.
  • Cell calculation via logical rows.
  • Setting the formula to be used for formula overlap.

Weitere Hinweise

Row formulas can also be defined for ratio blocks. Therefore, error or warning messages may appear that refer to ratios. If a message refers to ratio cells, the ratio cells are referred to in the format Rmmmnnn, where mmm is the ratio row block number and nnn is the ratio column block number.

Using row formulas, you can insert comments between logical rows in a report. You enter a formula which always has the result zero, for example '<001>*0'. If zero values are displayed as blanks in the report, a blank row is displayed with the row text of the formula in the title column. For future versions, however, the function is planned to support continuous texts between logical rows.
